I started doing tax returns for people in the mid 1970s. As a young Marine, I was preparing free returns for Marines needing assistance with their returns. Most were young and had never had to file a return.

Although I ended up working in IT as a network/systems engineer, I continued doing taxes at the rate of about 50 returns per year as a side job. While living in Europe and the Middle East, I prepared returns for ex-pats as well.

When we settled in Idaho in 2018, I worked for one of the large tax preparation companies, doing up to 750 returns per year. While that was a great job and a great company to work for, I saw a real need to do lower cost returns for families and young people that aren’t comfortable doing their own returns but prefer a lower cost option.
